Baseball Game Preview: Perkins Pirates vs. Bellevue Redmen

The Perkins Pirates will challenge the Bellevue Redmen at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Perkins 3.5, Bellevue 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Perkins' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against Eastwood by a score of 5-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Braxden Martin and Talon Walton made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Martin tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Walton struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). What's more, Martin posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. At the plate, Martin went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Walton went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dante Shipp Jr., who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Bellevue had just enough and edged out Columbian 3-1 on Wednesday. The Redmen haven't had any issues with the Tornadoes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Bellevue's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Perkins, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3-1.

Perkins was able to grind out a solid win over Bellevue when the teams last played back in April, winning 3-0. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Redmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
