Softball Game Preview: Dixon Dukes & Duchesses vs. Genoa-Kingston Cogs

The Dixon Dukes & Duchesses will venture away from home to take on the Genoa-Kingston Cogs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dixon has three straight victories, Genoa-Kingston has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Dixon had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Lutheran on Thursday. The Dukes & Duchesses were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Crusaders. The Dukes & Duchesses' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Genoa-Kingston lost 14-7 to Dakota on Saturday.

Olivia Vasak made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Lily Provost was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Genoa-Kingston's loss dropped their record down to 7-11-1. As for Dixon, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Dixon might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Genoa-Kingston in their previous matchup on April 7th. Can the Dukes & Duchesses avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
