Basketball Recap: Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against Millwood last Wednesday, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot came back down to earth. The Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kenston Forest Kavaliers on Friday. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Kavaliers recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Hamner, who posted 17 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Hamner's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Polster, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Kenston Forest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dayton Williams, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 boards. Those 17 rebounds gave Williams a new career-high. Will Johnson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4. As for Kenston Forest, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot will welcome Tidewater Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot is facing Tidewater Academy at the right time seeing as Tidewater Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Kenston Forest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Banner Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Kenston Forest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.2 points per game this season.
