Basketball Game Preview: Woodland Park Panthers vs. St. Mary's Pirates

The Woodland Park Panthers will square off against the St. Mary's Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Woodland Park is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 68 points on Saturday, they were much more limited against Banning Lewis Academy on Wednesday. They took a blow against the Stallions, falling 59-27. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Stallions are ranked 48th).

Meanwhile, St. Mary's posted their closest victory since January 24th on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Lamar 58-56. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

St. Mary's win came from a few key players Woodland Park will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jeremiah Starr, who posted 16 points. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kisean Dawson, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.

St. Mary's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Woodland Park, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-12.
