Basketball Recap: Burley Takes a Loss

On Friday, the Burley Bobcats were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 60-54 to the Sugar-Salem Diggers. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Diggers are ranked 42nd).

Despite the loss, Burley still got an impressive performance from Aiden Gonzales, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 14 points. Jake Seely was another key player, putting up six points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Burley was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Burley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Sugar-Salem, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.

Burley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-48 loss against Shelley on the 4th. As for Sugar-Salem, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-58 defeat against Century on the 4th.
