Volleyball Recap: Winfield Comes Up Short

Winfield was the 3-0 winner over St. Charles when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Warriors fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Winfield took St. Charles into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-21, 16-14.

When it comes to explaining why Winfield lost, don't look at Mallory West. Despite the final result, she had nine digs and two assists. Those assists were West's first of the season.

Winfield's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9-1. As for St. Charles, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11-3.

Winfield has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Montgomery County on the 6th. As for St. Charles, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Fort Zumwalt West on the 6th.
