Softball Recap: St. Helens Makes It 18 in a Row at Home

St. Helens faced Scappoose in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Lions walked away with a 5-2 win over the Indians. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Eme Curaming spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Addy Ellis was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Maddy Lahey was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

St. Helens' victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Scappoose, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.
