Basketball Recap: South Sumter Comes Up Short

South Sumter lost against The Villages Charter back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The South Sumter Raiders came up short against The Villages Charter Buffalo, falling 52-29. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 564th, while the Buffalo are ranked 33rd).

The Villages Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Herva Brutus, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Mann, who had 11 points and four steals.

South Sumter dropped their record down to 2-16 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for The Villages Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

South Sumter has already played their next contest (against Belleview), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. The Villages Charter has already played their next game, a 52-42 loss against Williston on the 25th.
