Football Recap: Nico Giusti's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mira Mesa over Hoover + How To Watch

Mira Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 34-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hoover Cardinals.

Several Marauders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nico Giusti, who threw for 243 yards and three TDs. Mira Mesa's leading receiver Jovan Gorum was Giusti's top target yet again, picking up 119 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

It was another big night for Hezekiah Manuel, who threw for 226 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 44 yards and one TD for Hoover. A healthy portion of Manuel's aerial production (82 yards to be exact) went to Rahni Grant Jr..

Mira Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Hoover, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mira Mesa will challenge Patrick Henry at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hoover, they will take on Canyon Hills at 7:00 p.m. on the 25th. The Rattlers' defense has only allowed 13 points per game this season, so the Cardinals' offense will have their work cut out for them.
