Baseball Game Preview: Lake View Chiefs/Maidens vs. Snyder Tigers

Lake View hasn't had much luck against Snyder recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Chiefs/Maidens will challenge the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lake View barely beat Big Spring the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chiefs/Maidens were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Steers on Tuesday. The Chiefs/Maidens haven't had any issues with the Steers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Snyder). They came out on top against Estacado by a score of 14-10 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Snyder let Seth Cooper and Callen Green run wild. Cooper went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double, while Green scored two runs while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave Cooper a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ethan Garza, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Snyder was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Lake View's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-17-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Snyder, their record is now 5-14.

Lake View might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Snyder in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Chiefs/Maidens avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
