Preview: South Central Falcons vs. D.H. Conley Vikings
South Central is 1-8 against D.H. Conley since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The South Central Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the D.H. Conley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.
Last Friday, South Central was beaten by Jacksonville 42-14. While losing is never fun, South Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Jacksonville is ranked 40th).
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 20-20 at halftime, D.H. Conley was not quite New Bern's equal in the second half on Friday. D.H. Conley had to suffer through a rough 52-20 loss at the hands of New Bern. D.H. Conley was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
South Central's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Havelock (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 68% over those games). As for D.H. Conley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
South Central took a serious blow against D.H. Conley in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 47-18. Can South Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
