Softball Recap: Pickering Red Devils vs. Rosepine Eagles
Pickering had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 6-11 to make it seven. They came up short against the Rosepine Eagles, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 back in March.
As for Rosepine, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. Considering they have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Rosepine's part, Marli Jones25 was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Jones25 has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Analeigh Roberts, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Loftin, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
