Soccer Game Preview: Mourning vs. Stranahan

The Mourning Sharks will challenge the Stranahan Mighty Dragons at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Mourning's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 7-0 margin over Northwestern. The Sharks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by four goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Northwestern from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Manuel Ricci led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Stranahan had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on Norland with a sharp 5-0 win on Friday. The Mighty Dragons' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

Mourning has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those nine contests. As for Stranahan, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
