Baseball Recap: Lamar Beats Pearce for Their Third Straight Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lamar had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Pearce Mustangs. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Jacob Greco was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Lamar's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-0-1 (and 12-15-2 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colton Quesada, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Colton McKay, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Lamar's win bumped their record up to 14-15-3. As for Pearce, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-16-1.

Lamar will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
