Softball Game Preview: Mission San Jose Warriors vs. Moreau Catholic Mariners

Mission San Jose hasn't had much luck against Moreau Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Mariners at 4:00 p.m. Mission San Jose has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mission San Jose is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Kennedy, falling 12-1. Warriors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Titans since on Tuesday.

Anjali Singh made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Moreau Catholic made easy work of Irvington on Monday and carried off a 13-3 victory. The Mariners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Mia Burrell was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Sienna Rios was another key player, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Moreau Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Mission San Jose, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Mission San Jose suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Moreau Catholic when the teams last played back in April. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
