Basketball Recap: Grayson County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Carroll County back in December of 2024, Grayson County came back down to earth. The Grayson County Blue Devils lost 57-34 to the George Wythe Maroons on Thursday. The matchup marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Grayson County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for George Wythe, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Grayson County and George Wythe should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Grayson County (ranked 139th) will meet Chilhowie (ranked 297th) at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, George Wythe (ranked 35th) will meet J.I. Burton (ranked 87th) at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
