Soccer Game Preview: Harlandale vs. Jay

The Harlandale Indians are taking a road trip to square off against the Jay Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harlandale has given up an average of 2.6 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Harlandale came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Southwest, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 426th, while the Dragons are ranked 11th).

Meanwhile, after soaring to six goals the game before, Jay was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was MacArthur who was credited with the victory. MacArthur got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Jay's one.

Jay's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Harlandale, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Harlandale beat Jay by a goal when the teams last played back in January, winning 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Harlandale since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
