Basketball Recap: Brandon's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Brandon suffered their closest loss since November 12, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Pearl Pirates by a score of 73-70. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (64), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Brandon lost, don't look at Braylon Barnes. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 31 points and nine rebounds. The game was Barnes' ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Morey, who went 9 of 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Brandon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

With the defeat, Brandon broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-10. As for Pearl, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home.

Brandon has already played their next contest (against Lawrence County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Pearl has also has no score uploaded for their next matchup, this one against Meridian.
