Softball Game Preview: Tahanto Regional Stags vs. Gardner Wildcats

Tahanto Regional is a perfect 8-0 against Gardner since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Stags will take on the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Tahanto Regional narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Clinton 2-1. The Stags haven't had any issues with the Gaels recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Gardner waltzed into their match on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over the Blue Devils. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Gardner pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Tahanto Regional, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.

Tahanto Regional was able to grind out a solid win over Gardner in their previous meeting back in April, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stags since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
