Baseball Recap: Irmo Comes Up Short

Irmo extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 10-9 in the process. They came up short against the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Silver Foxes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in March.

Irmo saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ty Rivers, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

As for Dutch Fork, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for Dutch Fork, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Dutch Fork's side, the team relied heavily on Boykin Bickley, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Bickley has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Raleigh Salters, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

While Irmo had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
