Mississippi High School Football Rankings

Who's up and who's down

There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. A special shoutout goes to Meridian's junior Tevarrius Adams, who scored eight total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.

No Margin for Error

Things turned out as expected for Pearl last week -- mostly, at least. The team was expected to win big, but the final result was not so decisive. It battled it out with Brandon for a well-earned 28 - 27 overtime victory. Pearl especially relied on senior Johnny Winston, who ran for 60 yards and also punched in one touchdown, and senior Tylan Knight, who earned one touchdown and 39 yards rushing the ball. The razor-thin margin made this game the most thrilling one of the week.

Points Galore

The Hattiesburg offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. The final score between it and West Harrison was a 62 - 20 blowout in Hattiesburg's favor. One of the main ringleaders for Hattiesburg was junior Jarod Conner, who ran for 100 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. The combined 82 points was the most of any game featuring a power-ranked team.

Have a Day

Meridian managed to bank 327 more yards than its opponent George County last week, and going the extra distance paid off. Meridian put the hurt on George County with a conclusive 44 - 0 victory. The win took its toll on the QB, however, as he was sacked four times. Junior Tevarrius Adams was a key playmaker for Meridian. One of the top players in the power rankings for the week, he tossed for five touchdowns and rushed for three more.

Rocket Boost

Brookhaven was the better team in every quarter against West Jones last week and consequently the better team overall. Brookhaven kept its opponent West Jones off the scoreboard entirely, winning the match 26 - 0. No one had a larger role in the success than junior Sevante Quinn, who brought his A game into the contest. He earned one touchdown and 161 yards rushing the ball. The success catapulted Brookhaven four spots up the power rankings, enough to make it the biggest riser of the week.
