Softball Game Preview: Ringgold Rams vs. Elizabeth Forward Warriors

Ringgold hasn't had much luck against Elizabeth Forward recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rams will look to defend their home field against the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. Ringgold has given up an average of 11.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ringgold is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 19th straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They lost 15-9 to Oakland Catholic. On the bright side, the nine- run effort marked the Rams' highest-scoring contest to date.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth Forward had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. They put the hurt on the Leopards with a sharp 12-2 victory. Considering the Warriors have won ten games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Julia Johnson was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Berlyn Holibaugh, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Addison Musisko was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

Elizabeth Forward hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matches.

Elizabeth Forward pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Ringgold, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.
