Baseball Game Preview: Anahuac Panthers vs. Huntington Red Devils

For the second straight game, Anahuac will face off against Huntington. The Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Red Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Anahuac heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Saturday. They lost 10-1 to Huntington. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Huntington's part, Peyton Herrington made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Herrington was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Brendan Fitzgerald and Luke Green did most of the damage at the plate: Fitzgerald went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs, while Green went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Fitzgerald has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kullen Fountain, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Huntington hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.

Anahuac's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-15-1. As for Huntington, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5-1 record this season.
