Basketball Game Preview: Midway Panthers vs. Hays Hawks

The Midway Panthers will take on the Hays Hawks in a tournament on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when Midway faced off against Temple on Friday. Midway managed a 50-45 win over Temple. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while the Wildcats are ranked 536th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hays). They breezed by Lockhart to the tune of 76-23 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Hawks who have now won three matchups in a row.

Midway is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.9 points per game. As for Hays, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
