Softball Recap: Yorba Linda's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Yorba Linda waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Troy Warriors. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 8-6 win the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.

Samantha Cook made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Liliya Cartledge was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Grace Gomez was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Yorba Linda now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Troy, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Yorba Linda wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Sonora on the 27th. As for Troy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-1 victory against Buena Park on the 26th.
