Volleyball Recap: Taft Raiders vs. Sotomayor WILDCATS

Taft lost against Sotomayor back in September, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Taft Raiders fell 3-1 to the Sotomayor WILDCATS. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the WILDCATS recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Taft started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 13-25, 25-9, 25-18, 25-19.

Despite the defeat, Taft had strong showings from Ariana Burgos, who had 20 digs, and Alyssa Rangel, who had seven digs and two aces. Burgos is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in the last 13 games she's played.

Sotomayor had a senior duo take command as Sophia Castillo had 12 digs and 22 assists and Sierra Deloza had 19 digs.

Taft's loss dropped their record down to 15-23. As for Sotomayor, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 23-14.

Taft wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Harlan on the 22nd. Sotomayor has also already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Warren on the 22nd.
