Centauri is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Meeker. Centauri simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Meeker 33-6 on the road.

Meanwhile, Pagosa Springs strolled past Kirtland Central with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 42-27. The Pirates pushed the score to 35-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Broncos cut but never quite recovered from.

Pagosa Springs can attribute much of their success to Colton Lucero, who gained 144 total yards and five touchdowns, and Creede Dozier, who rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Lucero also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack, forcing a fumble, and making 11 total tackles (1.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Pagosa Springs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 232 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 194 rushing yards in four consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Pagosa Springs' defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged three passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Jaxten Schiel and Lucero.

Centauri came up short against Pagosa Springs in their previous meeting back in August of 2023, falling 20-16. Thankfully for Centauri, Gavin Lindahl (who rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
