Baseball Game Preview: Anchor Bay Tars vs. St. Clair Saints

For the second straight game, Anchor Bay will face off against St. Clair. The Tars will challenge the Saints at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Anchor Bay has four straight wins, St. Clair has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Anchor Bay had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt St. Clair on Monday. The Tars blew past the Saints 7-1. The Tars not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24th (when they won 10-1).

Jackson Muirhead looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Ty Finkbeiner was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Domey, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

Anchor Bay was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Anchor Bay pushed their record up to 12-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for St. Clair, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
