Recap: Bernards Mountaineers vs. Lakeland Regional Lancers
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Bernards Mountaineers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They snuck past Lakeland Regional with a 23-17 win. Winning may never get old, but Bernards sure are getting used to it with their 12th in a row.
Among those leading the charge was Connor Laverty, who rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 149 yards and a touchdown while completing 83.3% of his passes. Jake Caldwell also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Lakeland Regional lost, one person who can't be blamed is Collin Sabric. Despite the final result, he rushed for 43 yards and a touchdown.
Bernards has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 12-1 record. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.56 points. As for Lakeland Regional, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4.
Bernards will square off against Westwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westwood will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line. Lakeland Regional does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
