Basketball Game Preview: Woodgrove Wolverines vs. John Champe Knights

Woodgrove hasn't had much luck against John Champe recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Woodgrove Wolverines will look to defend their home court against the John Champe Knights at 7:00 p.m. Woodgrove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Woodgrove beat Loudoun County 52-40. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolverines.

Ben Zuzcek and Dane Marsh were among the main playmakers for Woodgrove as the former posted 19 points and the latter almost dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 18 boards, and nine blocks. Zuzcek is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games.

Meanwhile, John Champe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Tuscarora and fell 76-44. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Huskies are ranked 125th).

John Champe's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Woodgrove, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
