Queensbury saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Goertzen, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base. Goertzen is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played.
Meanwhile, Scotia-Glenville came tearing into Monday's match with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Huskies/Dragons 23-0. That 23 run margin sets a new team best for the Tartans this season.
Keeley Kristel made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Kristel was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Scotia-Glenville let Emma Klejsmyt and Emily Martin run wild. Klejsmyt went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Martin scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those RBI were Klejsmyt's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Julie Cooper, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Scotia-Glenville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Scotia-Glenville pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Queensbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Queensbury beat Scotia-Glenville 4-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
