If Elmira wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Corning-Painted Post, they should've done a better job of containing Bella Gonzalez. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Express on Thursday for which the team can thank Gonzalez, who had 11 digs and four aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Corning-Painted Post was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-19, 25-17.

The win got Corning-Painted Post back to even at 4-4-1. As for Elmira, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Corning-Painted Post will venture away from home to take on Owego Free Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Elmira will be paying especially close attention to the Hawks' matchup: after the Hawks face off against Windsor Central, they'll take on Elmira again at 6:30 p.m. on October 21.
