Volleyball Game Preview: Riverside Pirates vs. Fairlawn Jets

Riverside is 2-8 against Fairlawn since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Pirates will face off against the Jets at 11:00 a.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Riverside came up short against Troy Christian on Thursday, falling 3-0.

Riverside took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-16, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Fairlawn lost 3-0 to Fort Loramie on Thursday.

While Fairlawn was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Fort Loramie's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-14, 25-17.

Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Fairlawn, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Riverside couldn't quite get it done against Fairlawn in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
