Preview: Grantsville Cowboys vs. Panguitch Bobcats
The Grantsville Cowboys and the Panguitch Bobcats will round out the year against one another at TBD on Wednesday at. Grantsville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Panguitch is ranked 26th).
Grantsville struggled with assists last Friday (Provo had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Grantsville ended up on the wrong side of a rough 63-40 walloping at the hands of Provo. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Grantsville has scored all season.
Grantsville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bryson Roberts, who scored 14 points along with four steals, and Jaxon Kell who scored six points along with three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jack Hendrix, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Panguitch had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six last Saturday. They blew past Grand County 84-57 at home. Panguitch's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Panguitch's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daxton Miller, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 assists. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. Cache Eyre was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Grantsville and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Panguitch, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
