Volleyball Recap: Stagg Comes Up Short

Stagg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chargers of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Their offense was headlined by TJ Thornburg and Michael Kos, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Dennis Tocila and his 22 assists. Ibrahim Mustafa controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Stagg's defeat dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, their win bumped their record up to 18-8.

Stagg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Hinsdale South on the 10th. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Lyons on the 10th.
