Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Waterloo). They blew past the Granite City Warriors 18-3 on Wednesday. Considering the Bulldogs have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Sam Juelfs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Juelfs was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Waterloo let Ava Brown and Bella Riesing run wild. Brown went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Riesing went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Riesing has posted since back in April. Mallory Thompson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Waterloo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Granite City only posted an OBP of .375.

The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Granite City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season.
Waterloo will be playing in front of their home fans against Mascoutah at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Granite City, they will take on Belleville West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
