Football Game Preview: Vigor Wolves vs. Central of Clay County Volunteers + How To Watch

The Vigor Wolves will face off against the Central of Clay County Volunteers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vigor's defense has only allowed 13.3 points per game this season, so Central of Clay County's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Vigor is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Northside with a sharp 49-28 victory. Considering the Wolves have won seven games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Vigor's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sammy Dunn, who threw for 239 yards and four TDs while completing 84.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 69 yards on only five carries. Those 69 rushing yards gave Dunn a new career-high. Demetris Johnson was another key rusher, rushing for 104 yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Vigor was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive matchups.

Vigor's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 4.5 times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jabarrius Garror.

Meanwhile, Central of Clay County waltzed into their contest on Friday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They strolled past the Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 21-2.

Vigor better keep an eye on Taylor Boyd. He was instrumental in Central of Clay County's win, rushing for 130 yards and a pair of scores. Boyd also put up two rushing touchdowns, which were his first of the season.

Central of Clay County's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Vigor, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.

Vigor and Central of Clay County were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in December of 2018, but Vigor came up empty-handed after a 43-42 defeat. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
