Football Game Preview: Catoctin Cougars vs. Middletown Knights + Official Tickets

Catoctin is 0-6 against Middletown since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Cougars will challenge the Knights at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Thursday, Catoctin came up short against Smithsburg and fell 14-6. While the Cougars had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Leopards 6-0.

Meanwhile, Middletown lost to Linganore on the road by a 56-42 margin on Friday. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Lancers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Catoctin will have to keep a close watch on Brittin Poffenbarger and Nathan Borawski, a pair of players who had a big impact on Middletown's prior game. Poffenbarger picked up 102 receiving yards and one touchdown, while Borawski picked up 24 receiving yards and one TD.

Catoctin's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Middletown, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

Catoctin took a serious blow against Middletown in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 43-6. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Poffenbarger, who threw for 243 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per attempt, and also punched in one rushing score.
