Basketball Recap: Levi Gaskins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Asheboro Hybrid Academy over New Manna Christian

On Friday, the Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors came up short against the New Manna Christian Wind and fell 62-53.

Asheboro Hybrid Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Levi Gaskins, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. What's more, Gaskins also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Landon Hudson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

New Manna Christian had a senior duo take command as Blade Baker went 8 for 15 on his way to 24 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals and Micah Wagner almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine boards. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for Baker. Tommy Honeycutt also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Asheboro Hybrid Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for New Manna Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.

Asheboro Hybrid Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 66-62 win against Vandalia Christian on the 23rd. As for New Manna Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-35 victory against Victory Christian Academy on the 23rd.
