Basketball Recap: Western Reserve Comes Up Short

Western Reserve has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-41 heartbreaker at the hands of the Springfield Tigers. The Blue Devils were probably out for revenge after losing 40-39 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jameka Brungard continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Springfield, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Brungard has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kristina Vecchione, who posted eight points.

Western Reserve's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Springfield, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-7.

Western Reserve will be playing in front of their home fans against Columbiana at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Springfield, they will head out on the road to take on Jackson-Milton at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Springfield is facing Jackson-Milton at the right time seeing as Jackson-Milton is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
