Softball Game Preview: Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons vs. Bishop Verot Vikings

The Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons will venture away from home to challenge the Bishop Verot Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Charlotte is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

On Monday, Charlotte beat Riverdale 11-6.

Dava Hoffer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Charlotte let Madison Stamm and Haven Hickox run wild. Stamm scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Hickox scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Stamm continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Addi Recker also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Bishop Verot's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Inspiration Academy by a score of 6-4.

McKenna Robbins was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Charlotte pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Bishop Verot, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Charlotte suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Bishop Verot in their previous meeting back in February. Can the Fightin' Tarpons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
