Recap: Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks vs. Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions
If the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks were riding high off their 59-23 takedown of Harmony Science Academy on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Ironwood Ridge took a 43-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pusch Ridge Christian Academy. Ironwood Ridge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pusch Ridge Christian Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Ironwood Ridge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaidyn Saucedo, who scored 11 points along with 3 steals. Saucedo scored a full 28.9% of Ironwood Ridge's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Scarlett Barton, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Pusch Ridge Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Sedona Dietrich, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. The matchup was Dietrich's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicole NJoroge, who scored 8 points along with 5 steals.
Ironwood Ridge has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Ironwood Ridge will be playing in front of their home fans against Rincon/University at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rincon/University has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Canyon del Oro at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
