Basketball Recap: Foley Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Daphne

On Monday, Foley faced Daphne in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Foley Lions were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to the Daphne Trojans. The game was a 17-17 toss-up at halftime, but the Lions couldn't quite close it out.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Daphne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Abagail Johnson, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 10 points and four steals. Johnson has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 15 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Victoria Moten, who posted seven points and five boards.

Foley's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 20-3. As for Daphne, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
