Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newark Memorial). Their defense stepped up to hand the Irvington Vikings a 10-0 shutout on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Newark Memorial's offense was hitting Irvington from everywhere, as nine different players booted in a goal. Jonathan Mitiku led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

The win got Newark Memorial back to even at 10-10-3. As for Irvington, they dropped their record down to 1-16 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Newark Memorial will venture away from home to take on Moreau Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Irvington, they will face off against Mission San Jose at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
