Basketball Recap: Highland Rams vs. Brighton Bengals
Highland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Brighton Bengals and fell 66-17. The Rams lost against the Bengals in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 53-31 score last time.
Highland got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Katinia Olevao and Kennedy Gurgel, who each put up five points. Gurgel also led the team in rebounds with six.
Sophie Nielsen was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine boards for Brighton. The matchup was Nielsen's third in a row with at least ten points. Lucy Chin was another key player, putting up 13 points along with six boards and six steals.
Highland's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Brighton, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
