Basketball Recap: Howland Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Howland can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the McKinley Red Dragons as the Howland Tigers made off with a 61-38 victory. The game marked the Tigers' most dominant win of the season.

Darren Douglas was his usual excellent self, going 5 for 7 en route to 12 points along with six boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Anthony Chieffo, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Defeat or not, McKinley got some senior leadership from True Carey-Hardin and Avon Fryer. Carey-Hardin posted 17 points, while Fryer went 6 for 12 en route to 12 points. That was a full 44.7% of McKinley's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.

The victory got Howland back to even at 8-8. As for McKinley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Howland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-40 loss against Austintown-Fitch on the 31st. As for McKinley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-48 defeat against Lakeview on the 1st.
