Softball Recap: East Grand Forks Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

East Grand Forks won the last time they faced Crookston and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Green Wave's pitcher stepped up to hand the Pirates a 13-0 shutout. The Green Wave might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

Karlee Walsh made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Ellie Marcott was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Mollie Dauksavage was another key player, earning two runs and six stolen bases.

East Grand Forks always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crookston only posted an OBP of .211.

East Grand Forks has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Crookston, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
