Baseball Game Preview: Arroyo Knights vs. El Monte Lions

Arroyo has gone a perfect 10-0 against El Monte recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 3:15 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Arroyo and 32 for El Monte dating back to last season.

Arroyo is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since February 22nd on Monday. They came up short against Gabrielino, falling 12-3.

Noah Fonseca was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Arroyo's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 6-7-1 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Arroyo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Richard Inostroz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, El Monte lost 11-2 to South El Monte on Monday.

El Monte's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Arroyo, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8-1.

Everything went Arroyo's way against El Monte in their previous meeting back in March, as Arroyo made off with a 12-2 win. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
