Basketball Recap: Lake Quinault Comes Up Short

Lake Quinault was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a blow against the Ocosta Wildcats, falling 64-30. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Elks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-16 last Friday.

Ocosta found their leader in freshman Sonny Beard, who made all 8 shots he took to post 17 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Beard is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Michael Priest was another key player, putting up ten points.

Lake Quinault's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Ocosta, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Quinault will host Taholah at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Taholah's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games. As for Ocosta, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mary M. Knight at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ocosta has three straight victories, Mary M. Knight has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
