Basketball Recap: David Posnack Jewish Day Takes a Loss

David Posnack Jewish Day and Westminster Academy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but David Posnack Jewish Day had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Westminster Academy Lions and fell 89-17. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 454th, while the Lions are ranked 20th).

Westminster Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Markeli Jones-Tynes, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 assists. The dominant performance gave Jones-Tynes a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Catalina LaFreniere, who posted 15 points along with eight assists and six steals.

David Posnack Jewish Day's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Westminster Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

David Posnack Jewish Day has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Miami Country Day on the 10th. As for Westminster Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 44-38 victory against Somerset Prep on the 8th.
